ULTIMATE MILANO · FLYING DISC MARTESANA

One sport. More than a team.

We are a sports club sharing a passion for ultimate, one throw at a time.

A disc that
brings us together.

ASD Flying Disc Martesana promotes ultimate through training, courses for children and young people, and community activities. We support players from their first throws to their development within a team.

The club is affiliated with FIGeST. We train in Cernusco sul Naviglio and bring our sport into schools through introductory sessions and educational programmes.

THE DISC, THE PITCH, THE TEAM

How do you play?

Grass ultimate is played by two teams of seven. The pitch is 100 metres long and 37 metres wide, with two 18-metre end zones. Players use a 175-gram disc and score by catching a pass in the opposing end zone.

Pass, run, catch.

The player holding the disc cannot run: they use a pivot foot and look for a free teammate. Other players move to create passing options. The marker counts aloud, giving the thrower ten seconds to release the disc.

Defence becomes offence.

Physical contact is not allowed. Defenders try to intercept a pass or force an error. When the disc hits the ground, goes out of bounds, is intercepted or the count expires, possession changes and play continues immediately in the opposite direction.

A point, a fresh start.

Each point begins with the teams on their own goal lines and a throw from the defence to the offence, called a pull. After a score, teams switch ends and the scoring team defends. Substitutions take place between points or following an injury.

RESPECT IS PART OF THE GAME

Spirit of
the Game.

The players on the field are responsible for the game.

Ultimate is self-officiated: every player knows the rules, takes responsibility for their behaviour and acknowledges their own fouls. Effort and competition go hand in hand with respect for opponents and the joy of playing.

When a call stops play, the players involved discuss what they saw and listen to each other. If they disagree, the disc returns to the previous thrower where the rules provide for it; play then resumes with a check.

Spirit of the Game is practised in every match: knowing the rules, communicating calmly, being honest and finding a shared solution are everyone’s responsibility.
